KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 28 Nepal has suspended the issuance of trekking permits for restricted areas in the high hills and Himalayan regions amid forecasts of heavy snowfall, snowstorms and avalanches from October 29 to 31. The Department of Immigration issued the notice on Tuesday, asking trekkers who have already entered the affected areas to stay in safe locations throughout the three-day period and avoid trekking during the high-risk window. The decision follows a warning from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, which urged tourists to avoid high-hill and Himalayan areas from October 29 to 31 due to the risk of heavy snowfall, snowstorms and avalanches. The department said no trekking permits for restricted areas in the high hills and Himalayan regions would be issued from October 28 for the specified period. Trekking agencies, trekkers, guides and other concerned stakeholders have been asked to comply with the notice.
