KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 28 Ten foreign nationals, who conducted a health camp on tourist visas for a Christian missionary organisation, have had their documents seized and were referred to the Department of Immigration for further interrogations. The camp was organised by Mercy Development - an organisation engaged in promoting Christianity - at Bargachhi, Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-7, Morang, Koshi Province. According to the Home Ministry Secretariat, the foreign nationals had arrived on tourist visas without obtaining the necessary work permits. The District Monitoring Committee for Foreign Nationals decided to forward their passports to the Department of Immigration for further legal action. The four-day camp began on October 25 and was organised by Pastor Pavel Dangal. The 10 foreign doctors - from Brazil, Canada and the United States - provided medical services at the site. Records show that they entered Nepal between October 22 and 23, 2026, with tourist visas valid until mid-November. The camp took place on a three-kattha plot of land where Navaraj Shrestha, a local grocery business owner in Bargachhi, had built six buildings claiming they were intended for a hospital. The facilities were recently used for religious activities and community programmes, where Pastor Dangal had previously conducted Christian religious classes. Shrestha reportedly organised the medical camp to appease neighbours following the recent disputes over the religious activities at the compound.
