  • Heavy snowfall disrupted travel routes in the Badimalika region
BAJURA, NOVEMBER 1 A 20-year-old man who went missing after heavy snowfall in the Badimalika region has been found dead, ending a helicopter-assisted search operation in the high-altitude pilgrimage area. Manish Bohara, 20, of Bedkot Municipality in Kanchanpur, had been out of contact since Friday while returning from Badimalika, one of western Nepal's most popular religious destinations. A Nepal Army search team flown into the area from Martadi on Sunday morning located Bohara's body near Triveni Patan, according to Chief District Officer Muktiram Rijal. Authorities were making arrangements to airlift the body and the search personnel from the snowbound region. The tragedy comes a day after another trekker from the same group was rescued. Sagar Karki, 21, of Krishnapur Municipality-2, Kanchanpur, was airlifted to Martadi after becoming stranded at a shelter in Triveni Patan when heavy snowfall blocked his return route from Badimalika Temple. The two were part of a five-member group that had travelled to the 4,200-metre pilgrimage site. Three other members of the group returned safely. The incident highlights the dangers posed by rapidly changing weather conditions in Nepal's high-altitude regions, where recent snowfall has disrupted travel and increased risks for pilgrims and trekkers.
