KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 2
Light rain, thunderstorms and isolated snowfall are likely in parts of Nepal on Monday as a combination of westerly winds and a low-pressure system over northern India continues to influence weather conditions across the country.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the Himalayan and hilly regions are expected to remain partly cloudy, with light rain or snowfall possible at one or two locations, particularly in Lumbini Province and higher-altitude areas.
Several districts, including Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla, Ghorahi, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jiri and Taplejung, are forecast to receive light rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
While most Terai districts are expected to experience generally fair weather, fog and mist are likely in parts of the plains, valleys and river basins during the early hours of Tuesday, potentially affecting visibility.
Kathmandu is forecast to record a daytime temperature of 23–25 degrees Celsius, with a slight chance of rainfall. Temperatures in eastern and central Terai cities such as Biratnagar, Dharan and Janakpur may climb to 30–32 degrees Celsius, while Jumla is expected to remain among the coldest locations, with nighttime temperatures dropping to 1–3 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists have advised residents, travellers and trekkers in higher elevations to remain alert to changing weather conditions, particularly in areas where rain, snowfall and thunderstorms are forecast.
