Bhairahawa, May 11:
Chief Justice Hari Prasad Sharma today said that economic backwardness and social conditions were a hindrance to most Nepalis’ access to courts.
Speaking after the foundation stone was laid for the Rupandehi District Court building in Bhairhawa, Sharma stressed on effective use of legal assistance project to facilitate people. He also stressed the need to solve petty cases through local administration, using other options available.
“If we can implement new ideas by adjusting to changing times, we can lighten significantly the burden on the courts,” Sharma said.
He added, “Cases in court will continue to pile up due to increasing population and urbanisation.”
Sharma said the people move the court in the hope of getting justice without discrimination, partiality and with transparency.
“All those who believe in the rule of law should have compassionate character and behaviour and support of judges, and legal practitioners,” he said.
