Kathmandu:
Collect your swimsuit, your best dancing shoes and, of course, your stash of attitude, as the Surya Lights Grind is just around the corner. If you had missed it last time, here you have a golden opportunity to grab it, cruise into the ship (no kidding! This time the Grind is adding more excitement with a ship that will be sailing in the pool), plunge into the pool, soak in the sun and dance till you drop. The poolside of Hyatt Regency beckons! Surya Lights Grind is back again on May 14 and this time it promises to offer more than you ever expected. A DMI presentation, Surya Lights Grind is sponsored by Surya Lights and The Himalayan Times is the official media for the event.
While DJ Jimmy Tangree has become one of the most popular DJs to frequent the capital, DJ Ash has been scratching the discs in several programmes in Kathmandu including one of Surya Lights Grinds. Jimmy’s excitement spells out as usual. “Kathmandu has a crowd that has no match, the attitude of crowd and energy is far better than I have seen in any other international events,” Jimmy hats off to the Kathmanduites whom he has seen in a number of occasions.
Mixing sounds for nine years, DJ Ash does not need any introduction in DJ circuit in India. Champion of DMC World DJ Regional Finals in 1999, this versatile and talented turntable master has exhibited his skills in Diamond Club, one of the most prestigious clubs in Dubai, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Boy George, Brandon Black, Graeme Park, Paul Jackson of the Ministry of Sound and Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan. Currently the resident DJ of the prestigious FTV Lounge in New Delhi and sound consultant with Red FM, DJ Ash is a true soundman. DJ Ash now has another feather in his cap — he recently launched a remix album with his two other friends ‘Chalte Chalte’ and now is coming up with his solo album in ‘Kab Aaoge’. “Performing in Kathmandu always exhilarates me,” he sums up.
And here is the greatest attraction on offer this time at Surya Lights Grind, which will leave you sorry if you miss the event. The first and the youngest woman in the Indian event War of the DJs, DJ Pre-Anjuna has magical fingers and great selection quality that will generate in you a spirit that would make you shake your booty till the sun goes down. And the energy! There is no dearth of it in this gorgeous babe. Playing for the first time for Kathmanduites, Pre-Anjuna looks to be quite comfortable. “Let’s see, I will play according to the crowd and I am sure that the party animals here would be fabulous,” she says.
Formerly the resident DJ of Tantra@The Park, the most popular night club in Kolkata, DJ Pre-Anjuna now rocks B*E*D (Bar Entertainment Dining). Her specialisation being Lounge, Hip Hop and R&B, Pre-Anjuna will belch out one of a kind tracks from her kitty.
While DJ Jimmy opines Kathmandu crowd to be pretty decent and knowledgeable, DJ Ash admits that playing in Kathmandu has always be-en fun for him. For Pre-Anjuna? “I am looking forwa-rd to seeing the crowd and rocking the party,” Pre-Anjuna puts in her say. So, this Saturday head to Hyatt Regency and transform your lei-surely holiday into an exciting experience of freedom.
