NDA organises AGM
KATHMANDU: The seventh annual general meeting (AGM) of Nepal Dairy Association (NDA) was held on Friday in Kathmandu. Speaking at the programme, Shiva Ram Khadka, president of the association said that the private sector, National Dairy Development Board, Department of Food Technology and Quality Control should put their efforts for ratifying the current food act and maintaining quality control. — HNS
Tourism promotion
KATHMANDU: The Kolkata-based office of the Royal Nepalese Consular General has organised a special programme in Thomas school on Friday with the objective of promoting tourism in Nepal. The programme is aimed at encouraging Indian students, especially from West Bengal to visit Nepal. The programme disseminated information regarding necessary preparations for their visit to Nepal during summer vacations. — RSS
Oil prices recover
LONDON: World oil prices recovered after sharp falls the previous day, but remained below $49 a barrel amidst a stronger US dollar and high levels of US crude inventories. New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in June, gained 41 cents to $48.95 per barrel in electronic deals. The contract had fallen to $48.29 per barrel overnight, the lowest level since February 18. — AFP
Lamy next WTO chief
BRUSSELS: Former European Union trade chief Pascal Lamy has been chosen as the next head of the World Trade Organisation, a diplomatic source said on Friday. “There is no doubt. It is Pascal Lamy who has been chosen by the selection process as the next director general of the WTO,” the source in Brussels told AFP. — AFP
