The inter-governmental meet between Nepal and India kicked off in the capital today with a view to boost bilateral trade between the two countries.

According to an official at the ministry of industry, commerce and supplies, the meeting had discussed on quarantine tests on Nepali agriculture products, border trade hassles, additional 16 per cent duty on Nepali Pashmina import imposed by India and easy access of Nepali products to Indian market.

Dipak Chatterjee is leading the Indian delegation while Nepali delegation is led by Dinesh Chandra Pyakuryal, industry secretary. During the three-day-long talks, both sides are scheduled to discuss on quarantine procedures, export problems faced by Nepal such as vegetable ghee, cooper wire and zinc oxide.

According to a source, Nepali team has raised an issue of export procedures of drugs.

Nepali officials said that issue of non-tariff barriers and other mechanisms are also on the list to be discussed in the three -day-long meet.
