MYAGDI:Relation among the political parties has been strained after the Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League cadres seized a piece of land owned by the Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) flouting an earlier agreement. As per a cabinet decision, the state-owned NFC had sold its land in Myagdi to Narottam Dahal of Hetauda for Rs 12 million. Three days after, Dahal had sold the land to Pradip Sapkota of Jyamarukot in Myagdi for Rs 19.7 million. Immediately after, the land was seized jointly by various political parties, including the Maoists and organisations, arguing that there had been an unfair game for commission. Other political parties and organisations have been infuriated after the YCL said the second buyer had leased the land to it on December 22, adding that such kind of activity was normal for the outfit. YCL district secretariat member Binod KC, however, said they had seized the land. Demanding public use of the land, the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-United, Rastriya Janamorcha and Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry took out a rally protesting the Maoist behaviour today. In a gathering held later, they termed the Maoists land-mafia. NC district vice president Netra Mahat said the former rebels had deceived them. Bhupendra Thapa of UML said they would continue their struggle against the act till death. They said their fight had now been diverted to the Maoists from against the second buyer, Sapkota.
