KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist, has directed senior party cadres to focus on drafting a pro-people constitution and remain ready for another revolt if the need be. Addressing senior party cadres during the two-day national training organised on the premises of Nepal Electricity Authority's Training Centre in Kharipati, Bhaktapur, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said for the next three months the party would focus on drafting the pro-people constitution. He also directed senior cadres of the party participating in the national training to be ready for counter action against possible attempts to disrupt the constitution-drafting process from national and international reactionary forces. People would certainly opt to revolt if the constitution were not drafted and the UCPN-Maoist would lead the revolt, he added. Prachanda has claimed that being in the government was not the topmost priority of the party, so any leader can lead the government. Responding to the queries raised by the senior party cadres during the reporting session, he claimed that the revolution would be successful under the leadership of his party. He claimed that differences among the top leaders of the party had actually benefited the party. On the issue of security in the Tarai raised by Bhojpura State Committee Secretary Anjana Bishankhe, he said the party would come up with a concrete plan to counter such attacks. He claimed that the commission formed by the party, under the leadership of vice-chairman Mohan Baidhya 'Kiran', to investigate into the irregularities in the party would come up with a prompt decision. The party cadres had raised the question over the delay in investigation into the irregularities rampant in the party. During the training session, vice-chairman Mohan Baidhya 'Kiran' confessed that there were differences among party leaders but now the leadership had become one and was committed to fight for the pro-people constitution at any cost. Another Vice-Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai said the discussions and debates were natural phenomenon in a lively party. 'But we are now united and focused on drafting the new constitution,' a participant quoted Dr Bhattarai as saying. He added that if any forces tried to disrupt the constitution-making process they should be countered. During the concluding session, founder of the Nepal Communist Party and advisor of the UCPN-Maoist, Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, said he was glad to see the party in this state. The participants shouted slogans before leaving the venue. The standing committee meeting to be held on Friday would decide on expanding the central committee. The party has also decided to hold the central committee meeting within the next few days for which the CC members would remain in the Valley.
