BHAIRAHAWA: After the Chettris, Brahmin Samaj Rupandehi demonstrated in Bhairahawa today protesting the restructuring of state based on ethnicity. They also urged to adopt the ideals of fraternity among various ethnic groups. Nearly 30,000 Brahmins attended the demonstration and chanted slogans. Thousands of Brahmins had come to Bhairahawa from rural areas of Rupandehi to take part in the demo. Elderly citizens and women were also present in significant number during the rally. The demonstrators carried placards and played musical instruments like shankha and khainjadi. The participants of the rally marched around the city singing religious hymns for national unity and fraternity among ethnic groups. The rally that started from Buddha Chowk ended in front of the District Administration Office after submitting a memorandum and protesting against the proposed restructuring of the state. The memorandum will be forwarded to the Prime Minister, Constituent Assembly chairman and leaders of seven major political parties through the Chief District Officer.
