Far-Western win KATHMANDU: Far-western Region Cricket Development Club beat Eastern Region Cricket Academy by 33 runs in the inaugural Krishna Bahadur Shrestha Memorial Cricket Tournament match held at the Biratnagar Shahid Rangasala on Wednesday. Far-Western were all out for 157 runs in 32.1 overs with Pradip Airee scoring 56-ball 47 and Santosh Bhatta contributing 46-ball 33. Manoj Mandal completed a five wicket (5-25) haul and Puspa Thapa took 3-32 for Eastern. In reply, Eastern Club were restricted for 124 runs in 21.5 overs. Santosh Baral top scored with 18-ball 33 while Puspa Thapa chipped in 23 and Sunny Pun 22 for the Eastern. Man-of-the-match Airee, Raj Kumar Karki and Chandra Saud claimed two wickets apiece for Far-western. Pro-ITF Taekwondo KATHMANDU: In a bid to make the Nepal ITF Taekwondo a profession game, Nepal International Taekwondo Federation in organising the first Professional ITF Taekwondo Tournament here on April 17. The tournament features just one weight category - men's 54kg. In all 12 players -- two each from five Development Regions and Nepali Army - will compete for the championships, informed the organisers here at the press meet on Wednesday. Top three players will be awarded with $5,00, $3,00 and $1,00. "We will make the tournament an event," said Nepal ITF President Krishna Bahadur Balal. Appeal for help KATHMANDU: Nepal National and International Players' Association on Wednesday sought help from the National Sports Council (NSC) for the treatment of national wushu player Chitra Bahadur Lamichhane. Lamichhane needs kidney transplantation. The NNIPA has asked between Rs 600,000 to 700,000 from the NSC.
