Woman raped, killed DHARAN: Twenty-six-year-old Meena Subba of Panchakanya-8, Sunsari, has been found dead in the Namje forest in Bhedetar VDC of Dhankuta. Subba had been kidnapped by Sujan Shrestha, Sudeep Shrestha and Mukesh Sarki of Dharan a week ago. According to the Area Police Office, Dharan, the three kidnappers have been arrested. Police said the kidnappers had murdered Subba after committing a rape on her. House gutted RAJBIRAJ: The family of one Nathuni Yadav of Singyouantole in Saptari has been facing hardships after a fire engulfed his house a day before his daughter’s marriage. According to Yadav, food stuff and valuables, including furniture and a TV set were destroyed in the fire. Police estimated that property worth Rs 5 Lakh was destroyed in the fire. Victim yadav lamented, “I wanted my daughter’s wedding ceremony be grand, but my dreams turned to ashes.”. ASI ‘threatens’ staffers Gorkha: Employees of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Gorkha office, halted work for two hours today. They were protesting a threat allegedly issued by an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Ramkaji Aryal of District Police Office. In a press release, the staffers said they would halt electricity supply in the area indefinitely if action was not taken against Aryal. Aryal who had reached the NEA office with some hooligans yesterday afternoon allegedly threatened to kill the staffers, including NEA Gorkha chief Dipesh Khanal, by setting them on fire in the office. Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishnu KC said he will take action against Aryal as per the Police Act. Students up in arms Damak: Student unions aligned to various political parties on Wednesday padlocked Damak Multiple Campus (DMC) office, demanding resignation of campus chief Hari Prasad Jaisawal within 48 hours. Students affiliated with ANNFSU, ANNFSU (Revolutionary) and Federal Student Union have been protesting demanding withdrawal of a recent decision to hike the fees. Meanwhile, Bisworaj Adhikari, chairman, Nepal Professor’s Union, DMC, said efforts were on to resolve the dispute.
