HLPM condoles GPK

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the High Level Political Mechanism on Friday expressed deep condolence over the sad and untimely demise of former prime minister and Nepali Congress president late Girija Prasad Koirala. “The meeting extends deep condolences to the bereaved family of former PM and senior leader of democratic movement the late Koirala,” the condolence message reads. Speaking to media persons after the conclusion of the meeting, senior leader of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the meeting expressed its commitment to draft the constitution in the stipulated deadline and take the peace process to a logical conclusion by forging consensus over the contentious issues among the major political parties. CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal said that a decision on the formation of the State Restructuring Commission will be taken in the next meeting of the HLPM. The meeting that was held in the Unified CPN- Maoist Parliamentary Party Office at Singha Durbar at 11 am concluded after two hours. Chairman of Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal had chaired the meeting which was attended by UCPN-M vice chairman Narayankaji Shrestha and Dev Gurung, NC acting president Sushil Koirala, senior leaders Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ram Chandra Poudel and UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal, general secretary Ishwor Pokharel and Bharat Mohan Adhikari among others. This was the first meeting of the HLPM after the demise of the former PM late Girija Prasad Koirala who was its coordinator.
