Junkiri Ka wins Dohori contest

KATHMANDU: Junkiri Dohori Saanjh Ka from Mitranagar sang their way to the winner's spot in the Tuborg Dohori Pratiyogita 2066. In a neck-to-neck competition in the finale of the week-long event held at the Fun park at Bhrikuitmandap, Tinkune Kantipur Dohori Saanjh came second while the third place was taken by Junkiri Dohori Saanjh Kha. The winning team received Rs 1 lakh cash prize and a certificate, while the teams that came second and third received cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively along with certificates. The award for Best Dohori singer (male) went to Chandra Praiyar from Kali Gandaki Dohori Saanjh, while Madhumalla Pokhrel from Jharana Dohori Saanjh, Pulchowk bagged the Best Dohori singer (female). While the winner went home with the grand prizes, the dohori lovers who had turned out in full force also got musical treats from singers like Badri Pangeni, Radhika Hamal, Nabin Poudel and Bishnu Khatri. The highlight of the event was singer Premraj Mahat's duet with Sunita Dulal in the ever-popular number Pan ko paat. The Tuborg Dohori Pratiyogita 2066 was presented by Gorkha Brewery was organised by the Lok Dohori Sanskritic Vyavasayek Sangh in association with Lok Sangeet Utthan Sangh.
