Nepali and Bangladeshi women have expressed their determination — at a meeting between Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha of Bangladesh and National Women’s Organisation Nepal (NWON) in Kathmandu recently — to work jointly for the women development through exploration and promotion of various crucial areas such as entrepreneurship, women empowerment, employment generation and income enhancement. According to Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), both the countries have agreed in principle to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance mutual cooperation for women empowerment. During the meeting between the two women organisations and Humayun Kabir, Bangladeshi envoy to Nepal, they discussed a need to share knowledge, skills, production techniques and services. Joint investment in lucrative areas will ultimately help both the countries to generate economic benefits, the envoy said, adding that Nepal and Bangladesh need to identify potential investment areas and move jointly to enhance economic advancement. The envoy stres-sed on the need to work for public-private partnership.

Binod Bahadur Shrestha, president of FNCCI, on the occasion, said that micro-finance and rural urban development activities have already been started in Nepal as a step towards socio-economic development through public-private partnership.
