Govt adopts new strategy for polio campaign

KATHMANDU: The government has unveiled a new strategy on the Polio Drop campaign for this year on Friday. According to the Ministry of Health and Population MoHP, the government has planned the 12th polio drop campaign which is scheduled for Mach 10 and May 15 for the under five-year-old children nationwide. The MoHP said that the children who attended the previous campaign could take part in the upcoming campaign.
Around 39307 booths and 79814 volunteers have been organised to for the purpose.
The international donor agencies WHO, USAID and UNICEF will contribute to the cost of the campaign which is expected to be Rs 276,698,870.
Earlier, the campaign lasted a couple of days but now only one day has been slated for the purpose. According to statistics, some 4,147,814 children benefited from the polio campaign in 2008.
