DHANKUTA: A person was burnt to ashes while two others were injured in a fire that broke out at Thapchuwa of Aahale this afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Mandari Rai. Local Rammaya Rai and Phool Kumar Rai were badly burnt in the incident. The injured are undergoing treatment in BPKIHS, Dharan. “The incident occurred after the wild fire engulfed the human settlement that destroyed seven houses of the locality,” a local Narajit Rai said. According to preliminary investigation, property worth Rs 1 million was destroyed. Rai said the wild fire engulfed the settlement all of a sudden and destroyed the thatched huts. However, the houses with the corrugated zinc roof were safe. Houses of Ramjit Rai, Malati Rai, Samser Rai, Dil Bahadur Rai, Hem Kumar Rai, Bishnu Kumari Rai and Bhim Bahadur Rai were destroyed. The victims have taken shelter in neighbours’ houses.
