KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai today claimed that the political leaders were not yet convinced that the federal states were possible. “We discussed for around two hours in the High Level Political Mechanism. But the leaders are not convinced that federal states were possible,” he said while addressing a function organised by Kirant Republican State Nepal here. He, however, claimed that the people have already proved that the federal states were possible. “We should go ahead on this path,” he said. Commenting on the ‘Road map for economic revolution in the Kirant Republican State’ presented by UCPN Maoist politburo member Gopal Kiranti, he said Kiranti’s concept could be achieved. “Every great discovery begins from a dream,” he said adding that all the Kirant people should be dedicated and united to make this dream come true. He said that the Kirant Republican State was rich in natural resources like jungle, mountains and water and they could be utilised for economic revolution in the state. Dr Bhattarai also said that investment on education and health of the people was needed in order to prepare them for the economic revolution. Commenting on the construction of proposed Kirant Republic Tower, he said it could be the symbol of development and would inspire the people to be dedicated for developing their place. He concluded that all the forces of the country should focus on defeating the regressive forces. He claimed that political revolutions should be completed for the initiation of economic revolution and Nepal can become a good place to live in if the resources are utilised appropriately. “Nepal lagged behind in development just because of wrong political system but it can be corrected,” he said.
