Maoist supremo threatens backlash at pro-royalists

CHITWAN: Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' on Saturday said that those protesting federalism, secularism and republic will get a rude jolt before May 28, 2010. The Maoist supremo said that people will deal a crushing blow to the conspirators who are trying to overturn the political stream which is operating as per the people’s mandate. Addressing the inaugural session of the first annual general meeting of Nepal National Construction Entrepreneurs’ Association in Sauraha, Prachanda said, 'It's the hour to give a final answer to the forces that are against the institutionalisation of the republic.” “People will deal a severe blow to the pro-royalists who are trying reactivate after the demise of former prime minister and president of Nepali Congress the late Girija Prasad Koirala,” Prachanda said. Stating that the three major political parties are holding discussion over the contentious issues in the meeting of the High Level Political Mechanism, he said the transitional phase would not prolong further. 'As the historic responsibility lies upon the shoulder of UCPN-M to lead the nation, we will accomplish it honestly,' the Maoist supremo boasted, adding that his party will lead the task of promulgation of the new statute in the stipulated deadline and take the peace process to a logical conclusion by forging consensus among the political parties. Addressing the function, UCPN-M vice chairman Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’ claimed that a national government under the leadership of the party will be formed soon.
