BIRATNAGAR: Nepal Sadbhawana Party Chairman and Minister for Commerce and Supply Rajendra Mahato today threatened to quit the government and the parliament if the state did not agree on the demand for a one-Madhesh province. Addressing the Mechi Mahakali Autonomous Madhesh Journey in Biratnagar, Mahato said, “Our party will launch a decisive protest if the constitution is promulgated by ignoring Madhesh agendas”. Claiming that the Madhesh would disintegrate if the state did not agree on the demand of a single Madhesh province, Mahato accused the Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML and the UCPN-Maoist of conspiring against their demand. To prevent Madhesh from secession, the state has to declare Madhesh as one-Madhesh single province, Mahato said. Accusing the big three parties of being indifferent to the constitution drafting process, Mahato said the major parties will have to take the responsibility if the new statute is not promulgated within the stipulated time. Stating that the UCPN-Maoist has been focusing on toppling the present government and forming a new one, Mahato urged the Maoists to create an environment conducive to drafting the statute. He also demanded implementation of the 8-point agreement reached between the Joint Madhesh Front and the government in the past.
