TU dept padlocked KATHMANDU: Irate students on Sunday padlocked Tribhuvan University Central Department of Education (CDE), Kirtipur, demanding publication M Ed first year exam results. The exams were held in January 2009. The students said they were left with no option but to padlock the Central Department of Education office to protest the delay in publishing the results. Regular classes have been disrupted due to the closure of the department. Condolence messages KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress on Sunday said the party received a flood of condolence messages from heads of nations, heads of executives, ministers, political leaders and various organisations from across the world on the demise of the party president, Girija Prasad Koirala. "The messages we received were from ministers, leaders, writers and dignitaries and diplomats from India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Korea, Russia, Thailand and Sri Lanka, among others. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was not an exception," said NC chief secretary Ram Chandra Pokhrel. Held with fake notes KATHMANDU: A special squad deployed by the Nepal Police Headquarters arrested Mohammed Hamid Khair, a Paskistani national, along with two others, with Rs 9,98,500 counterfeit Indian currency on Saturday night. The other two accomplices are Binod Mahato and Amodmani Mahato from Kalaiya- 5, Bara. They were arrested from Hotel Classic here. They have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka. They will face trials under the Fake and Illegal Currency Act of Muluki Ain. NBA warns of disaster Kathmandu: Nepal Bar Association (NBA) today warned that the country could face an autocratic regime if the constitution could not be promulgated within the stipulated time. NBA president Prem Bahadur Khadka said that failing to get the constitution by May 28 would invite disaster in the country. "We are against the extension of the tenure of Constituent Assembly . It will be unfortunate if CA tenure is extended," he said.
