NAWALPARASI: Locals of Nawalparasi district have intensified their efforts to contribute to the development of tourism sites here with the objective of attracting tourists in villages in support of the upcoming Nepal Tourism Year 2011. They have focused their efforts on luring domestic and foreign tourists by imparting information about religious, historical and cultural sites in Nawalparasi, said chairperson of Devchuli Hill Conservation and Tourism Area Construction Committee Padma Raj Giri. Campaigns have been initiated from the grass root level to launch wider publicity about various important sites such as Maulakalika temple, Devchuli, Daunnedevi, Triveni, Ramgram Buddhist Stupa and Panditpur among others in a bid to make the NTY 2011 a success, said locals. Cultural squads have also been formed to highlight the Tharu and Magar cultures which are major attractions of the district, said Badrinath Nepal of Narayanidham. Arrangements for air and train tickets have also been made for visitors in an effort to make NTY 2011 a grand success in the district which is the mid-part of the country, said Bishnu Bhusal, a local of Kawasoti. “Committees have also been formed for the development of tourism sites in Nawalparasi,” said chief engineer Mahesh Chandra Neupane.
