POKHARA: With the onset of summer, Pokhara is reeling under acute water crisis. Nepal Water Corporation, Pokhara branch, has admitted that it has not been able to supply enough water and the distribution has been limited to once a week only. According to the Corporation, it is supplying three crore litres of water every day while the demand is four crore litres. Currently, the Corporation is drawing water from Madi Khola and Kalimudha sources to meet the demands. Corporation chief Ishwor Prasad said, "During dry season, we can distribute water only three to four times a month." Ganjasingh Gurung, a local from Pokhara, said people are suffering a lot due to the water shortage. Kumar Giri, a hotelier, said he was forced to buy water from private water tankers as the Corporation has failed to supply enough water. The Corporation claimed that it would supply adequate water once its new project, currently under construction, comes into operation. "The project at Madi Khola is almost completed. We will have additional 2.5 crore litres of water from the project," said a Corporation official.
