KATHMANDU: The National Campaign for Education is all set to organise various programmes next week to mark Global Action Week for Education. The National Campaign for Education is a network of various Non-Government Organisations, teachers’ unions and education journalists. Global Action Week for Education is being celebrated worldwide from April 26 to May 2. The programme will highlight the areas of Education for All Campaign. The slogan for this year’s action week is ‘Vote for Education’. A press statement issued here today by The National Campaign for Education said its member organisations will submit a memorandum to 601 Constituent Assembly members, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, carrying a message that it is the government’s responsibility to provide education to its citizens. Similarly, in the districts, various organisations of the network will deliver the same message to the concerned district education offices. The statement added that the National Campaign for Education and its member organisations will organise a rally in the city to draw the attention of general public to this year’s slogan. “Dramas will be staged in various parts of the city to raise the issue of children being deprived of education,” read the statement. “The message ‘Vote for Education’ will be disseminated in different parts of the city through pamphlets, posters, banners and other medium,” added the statement. The National Campaign for Education will prepare a documentary with case studies, including the experiences of children who were not able to go to school some 15 years back as well as comparison between schoolgoing and non-schoolgoing children. The National Campaign for Education press statement has also appealed to the government, general public, professional organisations, journalists and others to help it make the action week a great success.
