KATHMANDU: The Nepali congress and the CPN-UML have welcomed Monday's 16-point agreement reached among four political powers regarding the constitution-drafting, underlining the need of concluding the process as soon as possible. The separate meetings of the NC and the UML Parliamentary Parties on Tuesday expressed solidarity to the long-awaited agreement on the contentious issues wrangling over the constitution drafting process for almost eight years. The NC held its Parliamentary Party meeting at the Constituent Assembly (CA) building and discussed the agreement. The meeting presided over by Parliamentary Party leader and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala approved the agreement, party Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha said. The UML too held its Parliamentary Party meeting at the CA building, welcoming and backing the 16-point agreement, party Chief Agni Kharel said. The meeting demanded the government to immediately manage adequate relief and rehabilitation for those hit by the earthquakes, calling on all political parties to remain active for forming the national consensus government to rebuild the country left devastated by the quakes.
