Envoys, entrepreneurs talk tourism

Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) today organised an interaction with newly appointed ambassadors of Nepal to Russian and Myanmar to discuss tourism promotion in these countries.
Hiranya Lal Shrestha, the newly appointed ambassador to Russia and Victory Rana, designated ambassador to Myanmar, were present on the occasion.
Narendra Bajracharya, president of HAN, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the importance of Russia and Myanmar as potential tourist-generating markets for Nepal. He said that there is an urgent need of aggressive marketing and promotion to attract tourists from these countries. He also stressed the need to have adequate flight between Nepal and both the countries.
Hiranya Lal Shrestha assured that he would give special priority for enhancement of tourism between Nepal and Russia as well as other countries. He also emphasised the need of coordinated approach of all the tourism association and entrepreneurs to promote Nepal abroad. Echoing him, Victory Rana also said that he would try his best to attract religious tourists from Myanmar, especially to visit Lumbani and other important Buddhist shrines in Nepal.
The participating tourism and travel trade entrepreneurs said that the Nepali embassies in Russia and Myanmar should have an information centre, where Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) provide all information and promotional materials in a regular basis. On the occasion, Prakash Shrestha, first vice-president of HAN, Ajaya Ratna Sthapit, second vice-president, Prasidha Bahadur Pandey, general secretary and B K Shrestha, M A Lari, Rajan Shakya and Ghana-shyam Shrestha, executive members, were also present.
