Blast at LMC office
LALITPUR: A group of Maoists blasted a bomb at the office of Ward No 22 of Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city on Sunday. The Maoists had forced the office’s security guard Matak Bahadur Budhathoki to go inside the office while they were planting the bomb. Budhathoki, however, was allowed to come out after planting the bomb, according to police sources. The bomb went off immediately after the Maoists fled the scene. Windowpanes of the building were damaged in the explosion. No one was injured in the incident. — HNS
Street clean-up drive
KATHMANDU: Gorkha AXN Pvt Ltd organised a programme to clean up the streets from Samakushi, Manohara Campus to Gongabu, Tokha. The clean up drive was held on Sunday as part of the UNICEF’s campaign. According to a statement issued here, Prakash Thapa, chief of Gorkha AXN inaugurated the programme by sweeping the streets. Sixty trainees of Gorkha AXN volunteered for the clean up campaign. — HNS
Sagarmatha award
KATHMANDU: The government has decided to give the Sagarmatha National Award 2062 posthumously to late Lieutent Colonel James R Roberts, a British national in recognition of his remarkable contribution in promoting mountain tourism and mountaineering in Nepal. Late Roberts had played a pioneering role in running trekking industry in the country. He has also made a remarkable contribution in promoting mountain tourism in Nepal for about 35 years since 1962. — RSS
