KATHMANDU: The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE), School Leaving Certificate (SLC) Board published the SLC examination results of Technical and Vocational Stream on Sunday. The results were published in the grading system, meaning no any student failed the tests. According to Bishnu Bahadur Dware, Examination Controller, the results are 'very satisfactory'. “As many as 215 students have got A+, 779 students have got A. Similarly, 2,131 students have got B, 124 got C, one got D and none have got E,” he said. He said that a total of 3,292 examinees had filled the form for the exams where 3,256 (2,010 boys and 1,246 girls) appeared in the tests. The OCE said that A+ is equivalent to 90 to 100 marks while A is equivalent to 80 to 89 marks. Likewise, B is equivalent to 60 to 79, C is equivalent to 40 to 59 and D means 25 to 39. E grade means below 24. Dware said that the results were highly satisfactory as majority of the examinees have got distinction in the exam. The Technical and Vocational Stream was introduced by the Nepal government in 2012 in 99 schools in the pilot phase. There are altogether 10 subjects in the stream while there are only eight subjects in the general stream. Four (English, Nepali, Math and Science) are compulsory subjects while six subjects are optional. The students can choose their favourite subjects from among five categories, namely agriculture, engineering, hotel and hospitality management, computer science and livestock farming for optional subjects. The Curriculum Development Centre had introduced mandatory provision of on-the-job training for these students. The students cannot get their SLC certificate without completing on-the-job training, Dware said. Supplementary exams The students who got C grade or below can sit for the supplementary exams, if they are not satisfied with their score in any subject, Dware added. Similarly, the students can also apply for retotaling if they are not satisfied with the grades received. Results of the SLC exams from the general stream were made public on June 19. READ ALSO
