Cop, Maoists killed

Mahendranagar: APF constable Kalak Bahadur Bohara and a Maoist were killed in a clash between the Armed Police Force and the Maoists at Gaddachauki of Kanchanpur on Monday. Meanwhile, a Nepalgunj reporty said a Maoist was killed on Monday when a grenade he was carrying went off. A report from Chitwan said an unidentified gang gunned down a civilian, Devi Bahadur Karki, on Tuesday at Bhandara bazaar. — HNS

Poachers kill rhino

Chitwan: Poachers on Monday killed a rhino in Ratnanagar Municipality, Mangalpur, near the bank of the Khageri river. This is the fourth killing of a rhino after the 2000 rhino count. — HNS

Discount for Dalits

BARA: The Kalaiya Municipality has announced a 50 per cent discount to Dalits on its recommendation charge for citizenship certificates, passport and the like. According to Krishna Kumar Niraula, executive officer of the municipality, 23 different Dalit castes will benefit from the offer. — HNS
