CHAUTARA: Incessant rainfall since Wednesday night has triggered landslides in different parts of Sindhupalchok, which was worst hit by the recent devastating earthquake. Although no human casualty has been reported from the disaster due to the monsoon woes recently, landslides have blocked traffic along various segments of the Barhabise-Tatopani route including Dhuskun, Baseri, Liping, Ghattekhola and near the Minivan Park. Similarly, continuous downpour after a prolonged drought triggered landslides in Thakani, Sindhukot and Bansbari VDCs that lie in the eastern part of district, police said. Around 100 households facing a high risk of landslides in Baramchi and Jalbire VDCs of the district have been evacuated. Likewise, 12 families of Bahundanda have been shifted to a safer location, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishwa Adhikari. Though arrangements have been made to relocate 25 households of Tyangthali of Marming-1 that remains at a high risk of landslides to safety, the villagers are unwilling to leave the village, he said.
