Statute copies yet to reach far-flung villages

By Himalayan News Service

DHANGADI/RAMECHHAP, July 19 The draft constitution has not reached far flung villages of many districts in far-west yet, nor has anybody arrived to collect feedback. Some villagers have to walk for up to four days, as feedback collection is being done at one place in each constituency. People of Doti, Ramechhap, Achham, Bajhang, Bajura, Baitadi, Darchula, Dadeldhura and Kailali are yet to receive draft constitution. CDOs and LDOs assigned the task to coordinate feedback collection, however, claimed that they had sent the copies of draft statute through VDC secretaries to the villages. VDC secretaries say geographical difficulty and scarcity of secrataries, with one secretary looking after the work of more than one VDC, has hit feedback collection. It is learnt that VDC secretaries have received copies but they have not reached the villages. Some VDC secretaries have gone on leave, citing public holidays.
