HETAUNDA: More than two dozen cadres of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) including lawmaker Ganesh Thapa were injured in a clash with police during a feedback collection programme on the preliminary draft of new constitution organised in the district headquarters of Makawankpur, Hetaunda, on Tuesday. RPP-N central member Madhu Adhikari, party Chairman Kamal Thapa's wife Pralita Thapa and Ganesh Thapa's son Abhishek Thapa were also injured. The clash ensued after a group of cadres, led by RPP-N Chairman Kamal Thapa, forcefully entered into the hall and vandalised chairs and stage, demanding the Hindu state. The scheduled programme was disrupted for an hour following the incident. Chairman Thapa accused the major four political parties of attacking the party cadres of RPP-N by using gangsters. Thapa warned that his party would resort to stern protest if the attackers were not booked at the earliest. Thapa also sustained minor injury on his forehead during the clash. He said that the Nepali people would not accept the feedback collection task, which according to him, was orchestrated by a syndicate (of four parties). Later, the cadres led by Thapa demonstarated in major places of the district headquarters and imposed a general shutdown. The RPP-N also enforced general shutdown in Mankwanpur to protest the suppression by security personnel. During the clash, demonstrators hurled stones at police. In response, police resorted to lathi charge to disperse them. RPP-N cadres staged demonstrations in various districts during the public hearing on the draft statute today.
