KATHMANDU: The Cricket Scotland team has launched a nationwide fundraising appeal for the DEC Nepal Earthquake Appeal ahead of the ICC Pepsi World Cricket League Championship 50-over matches between the two countries, the official website of Scottish cricket said. Nepal are playing Scotland today and on Friday at New Cambusdoon, the home of Ayr Cricket Club. As part of the appeal thousands of cricketers across Scotland, at over 150 clubs from Kelso to Skye, Dumfries to Inverness will donate an extra £1 for their mid-match tea this weekend, the website said. As well as asking Club members and spectators to put a pound in the teapot, clubs will also be selling raffle tickets until mid September to raise money for the appeal. In Ayr, at the international matches, buckets will be passed round to collect donations. According tot he website, for those who can’t attend a match at their local club this weekend, contributions can be made online also. Scotland, who have just returned home from a winning campaign in the 2015 ICC World T20 Qualifying Trophy, and Nepal are competing in the ICC World Cricket League Championship in a bid to qualify for the next 50-over World Cup in 2019.
