HIMS basketball

KATHMANDU: Lakpa Sherpa scored 11 points as Galaxy Public School defeated Namgyal HS School 17-14 in the opening match of the HIMS Inaugural Inter-school Basketball Tournament,

which has been organised by Himalaya International Model School here today. Tsering Gawa scored 10 points for Namgyal School. In the other match, HIMS outplayed LRI 58-50. Tashi Dhondup scord 30 points for HISM, while Basanta Gaudel netted 20 points for LRI. Earlier, founder director of HIMS Tsewang Niema Lama inaugurated the event. — HNS

CCRC cricket

KATHMANDU: DAV College defeated Prime College by 69 runs in the 2nd CCRC Inter-college Tournament. Batting first, DAV were bowled out for 149 runs in 25 overs. Bhaskar Khadka top-scored with 35 runs, while Saun Thapa scored 17 runs. For Prime, Prajwol Shrestha took three wickets. In reply, Prime College failed to overcome the target and were packed off for just 80 runs in 19.4 overs. Except opener Prashan Shakya, who top-scored with 38, and Sabin Pandey (12), others failed to reach the double figure mark. For DAV, Rajim Shrestha, Anup Joshi and Chandra Gurung (C) took two wickets each. Bhaskar Khadka of DAV was named the man of the match. In other matches, CIT defeated Cosmos College by five wickets with man of the match Mayank Thapa scoring unbeaten 34 for the winners; while Public Youth Campus beat KCC by 44 runs, in which man of the match Sanod Pradhan scored 40 runs for PYC. — HNS

White House basketball

KATHMANDU: Himalayan White House, KIST and NCCS won their matches at the third Himalayan Cup Inter-college Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Himalayan White House International College here today. Skipper Trilochan Khadka scored 15 points as Himalayan White House defeated K and K College 55-46; Rajib Shakya and Kapil netted 18 points each in KIST’s 42-25 win over Crimson; and NCCS outplayed Nepal Engineering College 45-31 in which Rupesh Pradhan scored 23 points for the winners. — HNS

KATHMANDU: District Main Dojo Lagankhel under the Nepal Karate Federation is organising the Birthday Cup Valley wide Karate and Kick Boxing Championship from July 2-3 to mark the 59th birthday of King Gyanendra. — HNS

Baba Basketball

KATHMANDU: Wilson Academy, Baba School, RIBS and Gyan Niketan entered the senior boys’ section semi-finals of the fourth Baba Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Baba School. In the day’s matches, Wilson beat South Point 41-22; Baba outplayed Excelsior 39-23; RIBS edged out Alliance 32-22; and Gyan Niketan defeated LRI 35-14. In junior Boys’ quarters, Wilson overwhelmed Gyan Niketan 47-26; Young Heart beat Daffodil 47-36; Brihaspati Vidya Sadan outplayed Baba School 39-30; and RIBS defeated Ideal Model 60-43. — HNS
