RAJBIRAJ, July 30 With excessive rise in temperature, patients of seasonal diseases have increased in Saptari. Doctors at different health facilities said people are suffering from different diseases due to excessive heat. Sources at Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, said that patients with viral fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, snakebite, among others, have been increasing on a daily basis. Only ten per cent rainfall has been measured this year compared to past years in the district with the onset of monsoon, which has resulted in excessive rise in temperature. Elderly citizens and children have been most affected. Assistant Health Worker Ram Kumar Diyali from emergency department of the hospital, said people were suffering from viral fever after drinking polluted water and taking bathing at the wrong time. ‘’We are compelled to treat patients on the floor due to the lack of beds in the hospital,” he added. Snakebite victims have increased. As many as two to six snakebite patients reach the hospital every day for treatment. It has also been reported that almost all water sources have begun to dry due to the drought and this has hit people badly.
