Reds to defend title

Nyon: European football’s governing body UEFA have decided to allow Liverpool to defend their Champions League title next season. Liverpool will play in the first qualifying round in July. The decision was taken after a telephone conference call by the UEFA executive committee. Liverpool, who beat AC Milan on penalties in an astonishing final in May after being 3-0 down at half-time, had failed to qualify from the English Premiership after finishing fifth. — AFP
