Registration of 39 Plus-Two colleges scrapped

Bhaktapur, August 3 Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) has scrapped the registration of 39 higher secondary schools (HSS)/plus-two colleges for not coming into operation for more than two years. Issuing a public notice here today, HSEB said that it had decided to scrap the registration of 39 plus-two colleges as per Rule 7 of HSEB Regulation 1995 and by-law related to affiliation 1997. HSEB had earlier issued a notice with 15-day ultimatum to 71 HSS/plus two colleges on June 22 to furnish clarification why they had not operated their institutions for more than two years. Since, 39 plus-two colleges failed to provide clarification to HSEB, their registrations were scrapped, said HSEB. Most of the colleges whose registration has been scrapped are from Lalitpur district. There are altogether seven HSS/plus two colleges from Lalitpur district that have been scrapped. Similarly, five colleges each from Kathmandu and Morang and two colleges each from Jhapa, Makawanpur, Tanahun and Nawalparasi have been scrapped. According to HSEB, one college each from Illam, Udayapur, Dhanusa, Dolakha, Kavre, Bhaktapur, Lamjung, Rupandehi, Pyuthan, Rukum, Bardiya and Surkhet have also been scrapped. HSEB said that Higher Secondary level of two community schools, 13 campuses, 20 colleges run by the private sector, two colleges run by institutional schools were scrapped. It further notified students and guardians to be aware.
