Boundaries unjustified, discriminatory: UDMF

By Himalayan News Service

KATHMANDU, August 10 A meeting of United Democratic Madhesi Front has termed the delineation of six provinces irrelevant, unjustifiable and discriminatory. The UDMF issued a press release on Monday  expressing full solidarity with the current  protests launched by the Tharu community against the six-model federalism that carve out Tharu dominated areas into hill provinces. The front also urged the government to address the Tharus’ demands. It said the government conspired to render Tharus as kamaiya and slaves by putting their areas in the hill Pradesh in the name of undivided far-west. The UDMF also appealed to all to support the Tharu movement. “The current delineation of boundaries of the provinces is against the main spirit of the Interim Constitution, popular movement, people’s war, Madhes uprising, and past movements of indigenous nationalities, principle of proportional inclusion, identity and provincial autonomy,” the UDMF said.
