Baneshwor Ward Police Office yesterday arrested two persons for posing as Maoists and extorting money from the locals. Prakash Rai, 24, and Kumar Tamang, 22, were arrested and a homemade pistol and a cartridge recovered from them. Rai hails from Jhapa whereas Tamang is from Sunsari district. The duo were caught red-handed while trying to extort money at Bindhyabasini Lodge in Sundhara last evening. Meanwhile, a police team from the Narcotics Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit arrested a person with two kilograms of hashish from Jhonchhe, Kathmandu. Ram Bahadur Gurung, 41, was held while he was waiting for a customer.
