NEPALGUNJ: Normal life was hit hard in several districts due to six-day general strike called by the Tharuhat Joint Struggle Committee beginning on Wednesday. The committee has enforced general strike in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi and Chitwan, demanding an autonomous Tharuhat state. Market places, shops, schools, factories and industries remained shut in Banke headquarters Nepalgunj. Though government offices had opened, the presence of service seekers was negligible. Short- and long-routes buses stayed off the roads in Nepalgunj and its vicinity. The vehicles of media houses, diplomatic missions and those ferrying daily essentials, however, plied without obstruction. Bandh also hit life in Bardiya district headquarters Guleriya, Lamahi and Ghorahi in Dang, and Lamki, Tikapur and Dhangadi in Kailali. READ ALSO
