Kathmandu: Intellectuals on Tuesday underscored the need to launch a massive scholarship campaign for students belonging to the Tamang community to help educate them. They said the Tamang community is the most uneducated community and that their educational condition was pathetic. “Tamang population is the fifth largest community in Nepal but their literary status is very low as compared to other marginalised communities,” said Dr Ganesh Yonjan, advisor to Nepal Tamang National Federation, speaking at a function organised to mark the fourth establishment day of the federation. — HNS
