KATHMANDU: Nepali actor Sunil Thapa, who is also known as 'Rate Kaila' in the Nepali film industry, has been awarded the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at an international film festival held in San Francisco, United States of America. Actor Thapa, who began his film career in Hindi movies but went on to become a household name through his negative roles in Nepali movies, was conferred the award amid the award at the Festival of Globe. The festival is being organised by the Federation of Indo-Americans in the USA for the last two decades. The Festival honored Thapa for his outstanding contribution to the cinema. Hollywood actor Jackie Chan and Martin Sin, Bollywood musician and singer Bappi Lahiri and a Vietnamese actress were also honoured with lifetime achievement awards at the function.Nepali artistes participated in the Festival for the first time. Nepali films Chocolate and Tata Bye-Bye were screened in the film festival.
