Kathmandu, June 15:
Narendra Bajracharya, president of Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), at a community building handover ceremony yesterday demanded that the government should promote this sort of a community housing concept by providing rebate on VAT and waiving registration fees to boost the concept in the beginning. Bajrachatrya said that it would ultimately help in managing unplanned urbanisation and improve the living standard of people in the Kathmandu valley. As the country faces a serious problem of increased unplanned urbanisation, the government should encourage community housing projects to meet the basic housing need of people, he said.
At a time when businesspersons are concentrating on promoting ‘apartment system’ of living with all the required facilities, Comfort Housing Pvt Ltd (CHPL) has started a new concept of ‘community type’ of living at Budhanilkantha for people who are financially strong. At a community building handover ceremony. Om Rajbhandary of CHPL, said houses have been constructed over two years time, considering the increased urbanisation and to promote planned housing development. In eight hours, people who love community living with modern houses, had booked the houses, he said. A total of 42 houses have been constructed on 29 ropanies of land.
