ML 5.1 tremor felt in Kathmandu Valley, epicentre in Dolakha

KATHMANDU:
A tremor was felt in the Kathmandu Valley and neighbouring districts on Sunday afternoon. According to the National Seismological Centre (NSC), Lainchaur, it was an aftershock of the April 25 earthquake recorded at 2:47 pm. It was of local magnitude 5.1. Its epicentre was close to Chhyangchhup Metok Gomba inside the Gaurishankar Conservation Area of Dolakha district. It was the first significant aftershock that the NSC recorded after two days. The coordinates of the location where the light tremor orginated are given as 27.87°N, 86.17°E. The place lies north-east of district headquarters Charikot. The last significant aftershock was recorded at 12:21 on August 21, with its epicentre in Nuwakot. Meanwhile, the number of aftershocks of April 25 of local magnitude 4.0 or above has reached 383, according to the NSC.
