KATHMANDU: A team of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) arrested an absconding murderer from his rented room in Ranibari Chowk of KMC-29 on Monday. The suspect has been identified as Bikram Chhetri aka Bikram Simkhada Chhetri (29). Police said that a gang of six to seven persons including Chhetri had attacked Baikuntha Rana Magar of Shantipur Dhuwakot-9 VDC of Gulmi with an iron rod in Ranibari Chowk of Samakhusi , KMC-29 on July 16, 2006. Critically injured Magar breathed his last during the course of treatment at a hospital in the Capital. Police said that Magar had attacked Ram Kumar Thami, a friend of Chhetri with a khukuri the prevoius day. Following the incident, Chhetri fled to Pokhara and became underground for 4 years and went to Qatar for 14 months. He has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation, the MPCD informed.
