Gurung says statute by mid-September

POKHARA: CPN-UML Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung today claimed that the Constituent Assembly would deliver the new constitution by mid-September. Speaking to the mediapersons in Pokhara on Friday, Gurung said the parties have reached an understanding regarding the promulgation of the new constitution. “If we postpone promulgation of the new constitution in the name of consensus, constitution will never be delivered to the people. Hence, we should deliver the new constitution in the spirit of the 16-point agreement among the parties. There is no point in Madhesi Front launching protests at this moment,” he said. He also said that the provincial boundaries should be drawn only after the promulgation of the new statute. “No force can prevent promulgation of the statute by September 15,” he said. On a different note, leader Gurung said they would sit for dialogue with the agitating Madheshi Front and other disgruntle groups soon.
