NEPALGUNJ: Kin of a youth, who was killed by agitators during the ongoing indefinite general strike in Kohalpur, and locals held a demonstration here to protest the murder on Saturday. Karan Singh, 22, of Banke died after the agitating cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front pelted stones at him in Ganapur, Piprawa Chowk along the Nepalgunj-Kohalpur road section on Friday. Thousands of irate locals had headed out for Nepalgunj to protest the killing. In order to stop them, some eight to nine trucks of  the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and  the Nepal Army personnel had been deployed at the site. In Bardiya, police head constable Dev Bahadur Pandey died after the agitating Tharuhat cadres shot him. Tharuhat Struggle Committee here has lifted its bandh for Saturday and Sunday keeping in view the Krishna Janmastami festival. In the wake of UDMF’s intensified demonstrations, the local administration issued a prohibitory order since Friday night in Nepalgunj and the adjoining areas.
