Life lessons learnt from my Father

Life lessons learnt from my Father

By Sangita Shrestha

A father is the hero for his child. S/He learns about life through the father’s eyes. More than that, a father’s support, guidance and inspiration helps his child to be someone one day in society. From the time one is born till his/her death, there is his/her father’s influence. That influence shapes the overall life and future of his child. Father’s Day falls on September 13 this year and this day is all about honouring one’s father and celebrating fatherhood. Some students share with Sangita Shrestha what lessons they learnt from their father and how their father has helped them in their educational journey My father has helped me morally and financially for my education. My father has always motivated me to study hard and to be someone in the future. My father knew the value of education and for us he can do anything. My father guided me to get a scholarship for my further studies to become a doctor. He gave his support and that is why today I got the scholarship and am studying to pursue my dream to be a doctor. From him I learned to work hard and to try till I get success and also that one should not be hot tempered.

I got a conducive environment to study at home and it is all because of my father. He is my guide and because of him I have reached where I am now. My father is like a friend and is very liberal. However, at times he is also conservative but I believe it’s all for my own good. My father never pushed or stressed me to join the Science stream. He let me choose the subject that I wanted to study. I have learned to be helpful, and that in any situation one should be able to smile — that is what I have learnt from him.

My father is my role model and he is very supportive in every way for me. He has shown me the right path in my life and I always expect his support in my life. I would like to be a good father like him.

I lost my father when I was in Class VII but I always remember him as a caring and loving father. He never said no to any of my demands and I miss him. Life is hard without a father and my mother has become my father too. From my father, I learned that life is all about struggles and one should be hard working to get success in life. I would like to suggest to those whose fathers are still alive — don’t take your father’s love for granted.

My father says he will support me in my education and has told that whatever I want to study, he will support me. But he always says not to expect to inherit his wealth as he will need it to enjoy his life. He has taught me to accept the world as it is and if it’s possible, to make others happy, but if you cannot, then don’t make others unhappy too.
