KATHMANDU: Ten years ago, Bill Ford, the great-grandson of Henry Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, founded the Ford Volunteer Corps and this year the company is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Ford Global Week of Caring. To recognise the remarkable achievements of Ford volunteers around the world, the ‘Ford Global Caring Month’, is being organised from September 1 to 30, as per a press statement issued on Wednesday. In Nepal, the key focus this year is education and sustainability. The statement adds a plant sapling is being given along with every car delivered in September. Trees were planted on September 7 with the participation from environment management, Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Ford Caring Day was celebrated on Wednesday, where children and spouse of the support team along with the employees were recognised and encouraged in an internal get together. Ford has tied up with Round Table Nepal to support Navjeevan School in Nuwakot and to celebrate the ‘Ford Caring Month’ by helping the school to rebuild and renovate. As a unique part of this support, all Ford employees will volunteer on September 27 to help renovate the school and motivate its 300-plus students, the statement adds.
